Our day-to-day goal is to provide safe and supportive emergency shelter to families in need of housing and to provide safe, affordable, supported housing to formerly homeless families.

Our larger goal is to help make permanent changes in the lives of the families served, in order that these families and their children are never homeless again.

The Families Moving Board has created and adopted a three-year strategic plan, covering 2008 to 2010. During this period, the Board has agreed that these are their top strategic objectives:

A. Sustainable funding for our general operating budget.

B. Community acknowledgement of Families Moving Forward as the industry leader in family homelessness in the Greater Twin Cities metropolitan area.

C. A succession plan for Board and Staff.

D. Additional housing projects, in conjunction with well-regarded local development firms.

E. Additional emergency shelter capacity, with one or more "satellite" Day Centers.

F. Additional services for emergency shelter families and housing tenants that are holistic in design and culturally sensitive.

G. A plan to diversify the Staff, Board and hosting congregations to better reflect the life experiences of our client families and to better engage the community in which we work.
