Homelessness Hurts! -- The Effects of Homelessness on Children

Compared to their peers who have never been homeless, children who have been homeless are:

  • Physically less well
  • Emotionally less well
  • Academically less adept
  • Developmentally less advanced

This is true even when children who have been homeless are compared to their peers who are equally poor, but have never been homeless.

For more information on the effects of homelessness on children, see Children Pay the Price for Homelessness on the website of the Family Housing Fund.
